Here's a wonderful Victorian wall pocket, shaped in a shoe. Hand made this Victorian article suggest it was made in the latter half of the 19th Century, probably about 1870's to 1880's. This neat piece was found in Ohio.
It is a cardboard form covered with plush velvet fabric then embellished with Berlin work embroidered in wool thread. Tied with a green silk ribbon with loop at the top for hanging on the wall. Perhaps it held sewing tools or other small items.
Size is 7' long x 3-1/4" wide across the vamp of shoe. Depth is 1-1/8" deep,
Condition is quite nice. No loss of embroidery thread.
