A roaring 20's or early 1930's, girl's vintage yellow silk rayon party dress. The bodice is in a plain sleeveless style with rounded neck line. Snaps on one shoulder for ease of getting into/out of the dress. No other fastenings.
The construction of the the over skirt of the dress is made of seven "petals" Each attached at the waist but hang loose over top of the longer underskirt. The underskirt is scalloped at the hem which compliments the "petals" of the overskirt. Satin ribbon is attached at the waist to form a narrow sash. Ribbon rosettes are sewn at different intervals along the sash. Loops of ribbon attached to a cluster rosette gives a finishing detail to one of the shoulders.
Measurements: 27" long from the neck line to the scallop of the hem. 13-1/2" across the shoulders from side to side. 28" around the chest. 28" around the waist. Dress would have fit loose in more or less a boxy style. Typical of the time period. Condition: Nice condition for the age. I did notice a small amount of oxidation on the front of the bodice just above the waist on left hand side. Some shredding to the ribbon on the shoulder.
Although this particular piece is not suitable for renaissance or re-enactment wear, with a little imagination, all of our vintage children's clothing makes perfect accessories for acting or drama club costuming.
