Dating from the early 1950's or possibly late 1940's, a stunning summer white floor length wedding bridal gown including an undergarment slip and finger tip tulle veil.
This stunning dress is made of a organdy voile cotton fabric with raised embossed machine embroidery floral motif.
The features, which are many, start with the pretty bodice of a scallop V neckline, both on the front and back. The scallop design is repeated on the short cap sleeves of the gown. The bodice is fitted with both the front and back dipping to a V at the center waist.
To accentuate the waist, a thick rolled cording is sewn between the bodice and the skirt.
Now, adding more demure to this dress, the skirt of the dress is made of three rows of tiers, each one wider from the waist to the hem. The width of the tiers measure 10", 16" and 18" respectfully. To give the tiers of the dress more buoyance, a underskirt of sewn tulle stiffening achieves this affect.
Last, but not least, the small covered buttons fastening the back of the dress to below the waist spell more demure magic. There are 15 buttons, each with a thread loop to fasten. Simply a beautiful style. However, I found fingers had to be nimble in order to fasten the loops over the buttons.
Length of the dress is 51" long from the neckline to the hem. The waist is 22". This is a very small size dress with the bust being 30". I found no damage to the dress other than a broken thread loop fastening a button. It seems to be in very nice condition, however, I may have missed something.
Under garment slip is made of rayon acetate, full length , fitted waist band with the front and back dipping to a V at center. The skirt of the slip is made of six gores and is sewn to the waist of the bodice. A metal side zipper opening up under the arm pit to below the waist. The zipper still work nicely. The straps are made of a narrow tulle net. Condition appears very nice.
Size is 30" bust, 22" waist, hips 32" and length of garment from the middle of shoulder strap to the hem is 49" long.
Condition is very nice.
The finger tip net tulle veil with attach voile organdy headpiece is lovely. The shaped headband is made of the same organdy embossed flower fabric as the dress. The under side of the head band is lined with white acetate. To add to the charm of the headband, some of the embossed flowers are handstitched with small pearls to accentuate.
Nimble fingers, is all I can say, but the outcome is so lovely...a subtle charm. The netting of the veil is double with one side to cover the face.
The headband, itself is 10" inside measurement from one side to the other. The length of the veiling is 18" in length.
Condition of the netting is very nice. I did find some of the pearls missing on the headband.
