A lovely Carrickmacross lace shawl, or perhaps table cloth. The vintage piece is made of fine machine net with thread appliques. A beautiful all over floral pattern of small and large flowers.
Filling stitches in different patterns lend interest to the larger flowers. The border edge of the piece is scallop.
The size is 54" x 56". A gorgeous piece but not without its flaws. There are a couple of small holes in the lace, which are minor. However, it is one corner that presents the problem. As you note from the photo, a small area of discoloration, which has left the netting weak. It is torn partially around the stain. Near by, a couple of other small stains and a tiny hole above.
Except for this corner, the remainder of the textile is sturdy and clean. It would be very usable in another project or just enjoyed the way it is.
