Here is a cute primitive, made at home, cloth chicken pincushion. This antique sewing tool dates from the early part of the 1900's, probably about 1920. Made of a small black check homespun fabric, in the shape of a setting hen, with embroidered stitches to accent.
The tail feathers are accented with various hatpins of shape, size and colors. A small black button for the eye and red, I believe, rick rack shapes the comb. Adorably sweet and charming. Fabric has built in dust and some fading from age making it even more endearing. Probably stuffed with cotton batting.
Size is 7" long x 5" tall from the bottom to top of head.
