A antique beautiful layover or bolster pillow sham bed topper, in a colonial candlewicking embroidery. (This is just a layover with no back). White thread on white muslin with hand applied and knotted fringe embellishment. The design is a looped scroll and flower motif decorating the center of the bolster sham. Entirely around the border are two rows of candlewicking. Mitered corners with hand made, hand applied, knotted thread fringe. The fringe is made of the same thread as the embroidery work. This white on white bedding piece is 68" long, not including the 6" length fringe on either end. (80" total altogether). It is 30" wide. Dating the bed sham from the Colonial Revival era of the 1920's - 1930's
It appears the bed linen has never been laundered, possibly even never used. You will find oxidation from storage. Except for needed washing, the cover is in nice condition.
This piece would look lovely in many decorating styles.
