The miser bag ~ an interesting concept or style of a purse for carrying a few coins, perhaps with a paper dollar or two. Dating from the late Victorian or early part of the 1900's, the small bag is in very nice condition with no missing beadwork.
This burgandy color creation is hand knitted in a silk thread. The edge of each of the flaps and base of each purse is embellished with silver beaded fringe. The strings of the bags are secured in the center with two metal rings.
When stretched out completely flat, the length of the bags, from one end to the other, measure 10-5/8" in length. Each bag is 3-1/4" in length x 3-1/4" wide.
Definitely spell this cute! Suitable for collections, costuming or whatever suits your fancy.
