A 19th century salesman sample or child's toy sad iron and matching trivet. I rather believe this may a salesman sample rather than a toy ~ read on as I describe. (also observe the photos) . A mini size, the iron has a fixed curved wooden handle, points on both ends of iron.
One end a sharp point. The other end is a partial point with slant or chisel edge. A fleur de lis design appears on the top of iron. The design, again, is used on the footed trivet. Two small clips on the one end of the trivet which snugs the iron into position. Number 5278 appears on bottom of trivet. No numbers or marking on iron.
Measurement: Iron: 3-3/4"long. 1-3/4" wide through the center. 2-1/2" tall from base to middle of wooden handle. Trivet 3-3/4"long, point to point. Width 1-3/4" wide at the center. 1/4" tall.
Condition: Nice and good patina to the wooden handle. Base is good. Tiny bit of surface rust and spot marks. Nothing more than normal. Same condition on the trivet.
