A late Victorian children's wooden Columbia Express Architectural building blocks set. A colorful box with patriotic graphics of red and blue on a finished box. Ends of the box are printed with 815, the size /number of the set.
The set consist of columns, arches, post, etc for buildings. Included is a drawing layout of different types of structures which could be built. The paper is in decent condition, and in order to protect it further, the layout sheet has been laminated. The building set looks to be fairly complete but feel some pieces are missing. Condition of the pieces have seen play but are still decent.
The wooden dovetailed box is made with grooves on the inside sides for the sliding lid top. Definitely some wear and breakage of the wooden sides, lid etc. See photos.
Measurements: 14" long x 8" wide x 2" tall.
Collecting vintage patriotic? The Columbia shield on the box lid says it all.
