Here is a wonderful hand stitched doll skirt dating from the Victorian era of the 1880's. A very small scale weave to the brown wool fabric accented with a challis in a multi-color plaid.
Skirt is complete lined in a brown lining fabric. At the back of the skirt is a detached separate panel which gives the skirt a draped look. Primarily though, I think to conceal a bustle. Skirt is very nicely detailed with hand stitched pleats on either side of the lower front. Although, I'm not a doll collector, it appears to me the skirt may be for a fashion doll.
The condition of the skirt is nice but with some flaws - mainly some small holes or shreds to the plaid fabric. A small lengthwise shred in the brown fabric near the side seam. This is hidden in a fold of the fabric so didn't notice it the first time around.
Measures 1-1/2" long. For the age, I would consider minor. Length of the doll skirt is 14" long. Waist is 8" around. Hip 12" around.
