A fabulous fine old linen damask napkin from the late Victorian era. The wide border of the white napkin is woven in a Greek Key design. Use possibly as a table topper, pillow topper or your creative imagination.
This lap size cloth with its center motif of snow flakes, is 31" x 33". Woven in the damask of one of the corners, between the snow flakes and border, are the letters B. Buffe 18. Is this a personalized napkin for someone or a name of a business, hotel or such? This is very intriguing but after some moderate searching online, the results came up empty.
It was purchased in the Buffalo, N.Y. area. Many of my beautiful linens have come from that region. It also was a very affluent area during the Victorian, Edwardian era.
Condition of the napkin is very nice. It has been laundered and expertly pressed.
