Here's a lovely children's white pique coat from the late Victorian - Edwardian era. The spring or summer coat is made of very fine pique fabric, styled with a large shawl collar.
Beautiful cutwork embroidery, in a leaf and flower design, embellishes the edge of the collar, along the front opening of the coat and trails partially along the hem line, both front and back. Two incised pearl buttons fasten the coat near the neck line with hand made thread loops. However, one loop is broken and would need to be repaired.
Condition is very nice with just a tiny bit of yellowing in a small area. The thread loop fastener also needs fixed
Size measurements: 19-1/2" long from the neck line to hem. 10-1/4" across from shoulder to shoulder. 22" around the chest. Sleeve length 11" long. 6-1/2" circumference around the cuff.
