Made by Marx and Haas Clothing Co., St. Louis, MO,
During the early 1900's until the 1920's, clothiers selling Marx menswear gave, as a gift, knickers to good customers after they had a baby boy. It was a way of saying thank you for being a loyal customer as well as congratulations on a birth of a son. The box above is dated 1916 and contains a darling pair of wool plaid knickers to be worn at the age of 1.
Printed inside the bottom of the box "More Than A Million Men Wear MarxMade Clothes". Not only a gift to a new little boy, but a great promotional for the Marx Haas Co.
The knickers measure 10" long from the waist to hem. 18-1/2" around the waist. 8-1/4" center back to the crotch.
Knickers button on both sides of waist. Very nice unused condition.
Condition of the box is good but not perfect ~ some paper loss at corners.
