Back in the day when darning hosiery was a necessity, sometimes sample thread repair kits were included with the purchase.
Here are several assorted such kits dating from the early 1900's to the match book style kit of the 1940's.
1. Chadwick's, The Spool Cotton Company. The card contains a brown wool thread. Color number 70. Even though it is unused, the card is broken in half. Dating from the early 1900's.
2. Little Mischief Hose. Now how cute is this graphic and cardboard shape of a barefoot child with stocking on his head. White wool thread is wound around the card. Some paper lost on the back of card at the top but does not interfer with any printing.
3. Austrailian Lamb's Wool Infant Hose. Blue thread for repair wound on a card inside the envelope. Unused and so sweet.
4. Real Silk Mending Kit, Real Silk Hosiery Mill. 1940's. Shades of tans, pale pinks and blue thread. This mending aid is so neat as to the condition. Unused and appears to be complete.
All are great for a display in a sewing room!
Sold as a lot.
