During the early days of the automobile most motorcars had open tops.  Roads were not paved, dusty when dry and muddy when wet.  Men, women and children protected their garments with the auto duster coat.

It, indeed, was protection against the elements, keeping their clothing from soil and staining.  The Gatherings is offering this lady's duster in a cream colored linen fabric.  The duster features a high button collar, or could be left open.  A MOP button to fasten for the high collar feature.

Duster opens to the front, fastening with five large mother of pearl buttons.  Slight gathers over the shoulders, giving the sleeves more freedom of movement.  Fuller sleeves with a buttoned tie at the wrist, for a tighter fit, at this point.

Size:  no label or any other markings.  Length of coat is 54" long.  Shoulder to shoulder: 14" across.  40" around the bust.  Fullness at the waist is 48" max.  23" sleeve length.  Cuff measurement is 8" around when buttoned.  Unbuttoned it is 14" around.

Condition:  very nice, although does have some light spotting.  A few little dots that are heavier oxidation marks.  A couple of tiny little holes.
