Artistically designed, this sweet older girl's hat or bonnet was, surely, lovingly made. Dates from the 1920's. The bonnet is home sewn from a black and white cotton woven check fabric. Made with a flat turned back brim, a black and white print brocade silk is used to accent the edge.
Large ribbon rosettes embellish either side of the brim. Again, the black brocade fabric has been chosen for making the rosettes, in conjunction, with a cream silk ribbon. The back of the bonnet is gathered to fit across the back of the neck. It is not lined. In case you need to know, the checks are 1/8" wide.
Condition is very nice with little or no wear. One of the cream ribbon rosettes does have a couple of small holes. Otherwise I see no damage.
Size of bonnet: 18" around the brim, from one side to the other. 12" along the back of the neck line from side to side. I'm guessing this may have fit a girl about 10 -12 yrs old.
