From an era long ago, a small collection of keepsakes with a record of ownership. These pieces of lace making plus a wedding pillowcase were found tucked away in an old chest. Each with a hand written note to document the history.
All items are from the Bacon estate, one of the prominent Whittier, California agriculture families who lived and help develop the city. The Wedding Pillowcase ~ stamped with the name of Ellen L. Bruckett, the mother of Eldon P. Bacon according to the note, and indicated to be a wedding gift in 1861.
A white pillowcase in very fine, soft linen with the tiniest of tiny hand stitches. It is truly a beautiful work of needle art. This amazing pillowcase is 41-3/4" long x 18" wide. A bolster case, in my opinion. From age and storage much oxidation.
Delicate fine cotton pointed collar with lace embellishment. It, too, is hand made with a note attached Elise made for mother.
Lovely piece of Broderie Anglaise. Two pieces probably removed from a garment with a note "mother's work. Pretty fine needlework.
