A neat accordion folding crepe paper Halloween pumpkin lantern. Although not marked, I am sure it is Germany. Dates from the 1920's to 1940's. This is a double sided pumpkin with the two halves folding together at the top for hanging. A small wire loop fastening the two halves together.
Top opening for placing a candle inside in a tin candle holder - amazing to think these might have been lit? You wonder how any of them survived.
Printed smiley face on both sides . The entire pumpkin measures 15" long, including the wire clip x 14" diameter.
Condition: As is. Some tearing along the folds at the top edge. More on one side than the other. Even with the fragile nature of the paper, it still is basically intact.
