A gorgeous pair of cut steel shoe buckles from the late Victorian or Edwardian era.  Attached to the back of the buckle,  a flap of white kid leather, which fit over the shoe.  By all appearance, they look to be French.

As there are needle holes at the edge of the leather, I assume this is how the buckles were attached to the shoes.  Without removing the leather flap, which is attached to the metal buckle, the country of origin is unknown.

The design of the cut steel pattern is quite pleasing and dimensional.  Nice curvature to the buckle.  Condition is nice. No rust that I found.  On the large flat plains of steel, some scratches to the surface.  These buckles would not be a disappointment.

Size:  2-1/2" long x 1-1/8" wide.
