A sweet handmade tidy doily mat for a vanity or dresser.  Dating from the later Victorian era, early 1900's, the scallop edge mat is made of a pale blue in a batiste cotton.  Lined on the backside in a blue silk. 

Each of the round corners is accented with a bouquet of flowers embroidered in french knots.  The outer edge is decorated with lace  in a darn net machine trim.  It appears its has never been use.  If so, it was kept very nice. 

Size is 10" square.  Last photo is a photo of the silk backing.
