Looking for exceptional antique needlework? Here is a textile, in fillet work, with an elaborate design of animals and flower pots, separated with large X designs.
This pattern repeats throughout the length of the fabric. Creamy in color, the condition is very nice.
Overall the width of the piece is 22" wide including the 5" width of homespun yardage. The length of the piece is 136" long.
Although found in the Buffalo, NY area, I feel it may be Europeon in origin, with a good possibility it may be Italian needlework.
How was this lovely piece used as it is quite long? Possibly a bolster on a high bed? However, let it be your imagination.
