Here's a neat hand loomed beaded belt or sautoir from the 1920's, Art Deco. Every girl then needed one, two or a few of these accessories for her fashionable wardrobe during the height of the jazz age.
This particular belt / necklace is in an Art Deco style, mainly of small round opaque beads in a white, with just a slight opalescence. The belt is embellished in a geometric design with round beads of two shades of green and golden rod yellow.
The beadwork measures 41" long including the fringe (which measures 2" long on either end). The width of the belt is 1-1/2" wide
Very nice condition except for an area of the fringe on one end. As noted from the photo there are two strands longer than the others. Looking closely the beads are intact but I believe repaired at the lower part of the strand. Restrung using a longer length of string. Which makes the two longer than the other strands. Perhaps someone working with beads could correct this.
Wouldn't this be a nice addition for your vintage 1920's costume. How more authentic could it be?
