Dating from the later Victorian era a bed sheet with redwork cross stitched embroidery initials of EK. Stitched to the one edge of the sheet is a pretty filet crochet lace trim.
This lovely work measures 11" wide. Overall size of the sheet including the crochet is 80" wide x 68" long. It seems an odd size, so not sure what type of bed it was used on. Another oddity, in regard to the crochet edging, it does not extend the full width of the sheet (see photo). Whatever the reason it stops short a number of inches.
Condition: Very clean although not recently laundered. Some small holes near the top of crochet where it attaches to the sheet. I noticed about 3. The edges of the crochet does have a few broken threads. A lovely textile to either be enjoyed the way it is or used in another project.
