Dating from the 1830's, or about, a men's wonderful early neck front frill whitework embroidery piece. This authentic piece is made of a muslin, or perhaps a very fine linen fabric (I think maybe the latter) hand sewn to a narrow whitework embroidery at the center. Teeny tiny little stitches is prevalent throughout the contruction of this frill. Especially sewing the casing at each side for the very narrow tape to gather. This tape is then tied to woven string, to loop across the back of the neck, to tie to the other side of the frill. An extraordinary piece to find. The antique frill is from New England. Don't know the background nor the state. Guessing maybe New Hampshire or Massachusetts. It has been in my possession for 40 years, tucked away but not forgotten. I hope someone else will enjoy having it as much as I have.

Condition: As you see, it does have oxidation from storage. It also has a small tear near the top, one side.

Measurements: Center, from top to bottom, 11" long. Outside edge from top to bottom 26" long. 12" at the front of the neck, from side to side.
