Farmhouse 1800's primitive early homespun sham (or possibly a table cover) with running stitch and knot embroidery. The simple design of a diamond motif is off set by the amazing small stitches and knots worked in blue wool thread. It is marvelous to study.
The sham is 32" x 31-1/2" made of natural color homespun in a coarser weave. The diamond border is worked on all four sides and is 3" in width. The center motif is 11" x 14". The two ends are hand hemmed.
Condition is good.
I have owned this piece for years and it came from the New England area. I believe New Hampshire but don't know for a fact or any other information.
It is time now to let someone else enjoy this pillow cover as much as I have.
